Death in Mexico has always been treated a little differently. Not be feared, rituals for the dead ensure that family members long passed will be remembered from generation to generation. This museum explores the traditions of death and the burial rituals used in Mexico throughout its history. It also houses the remains of many prominent members and dignitaries of the the San Juan del Rio population. As were most Catholic structures, it is built atop the remains of one of the cities ancient mayan pyramids. And its rooftop views of the city are spectacular!
